Garage dilemma...!!!

We drove past our block this morning and the brickies were there bricking up our garage.

After having a real close look it seemed the bricking to the garage was totally inconsistent with our plans- we paid extra to have the top of the garage line lifted so it could be in line with the window seal on the other side of the house and as our first floor over steps the garage, we didn't want more than five rows of bricks between the garage and the first floor. We just want it to be as on display!!

However, the bricking to the garage was no where near the height it should have been at. It seems the steal beam was about 30cm too low and the brickies thought it was right to go.

A call to our SS who was out fishing at 7.00am in the morning... twenty mins later the garage was knocked down.

Hopefully the beam will be lifted on Monday so we can have the look that we have envisaged.

We are away...

This morning three brick layers turned up at 6.30am.

About three hours later, they were done for the day.

Bricks were laid to slab height around the whole house.

Meeting with SS

We met with our SS this morning before we made our next progress payment for completion of frames.

Everything looks perfect. The work is neat. We are really happy that the first floor frames and flooring are screwed and not nailed. Many companies nail and this causes squeeking. This is one question my mate who is a carpenter told me to ask!

The dropped ceiling in the kitchen does not carry through into the walk in pantry as it is on display at Kellyville. We did ask for it to be exactly the same as the display home but this was missed on the plans. We were a bit annoyed as we paid to get it like the display home and we think it loses the effect otherwise. However, our SS was great and agreed to carry the drop ceiling for us into the pantry at no charge!

Some plumbing...

Looks like the plumber was there today.

Our water meter, external taps, rainwater tank outlets and outlets for the hot water system have been installed.

Now that the water is all connected, we are hopeful for some brick laying in the next few weeks, after we make our second progress payment!!
